Eastwood Cottage, Barlborough, Derbyshire.

Status: Planning
Description: A new house which would replace an existing derelict dwelling.
A fantastic site in the open countryside, the design flips the traditional ground / first floor layout and puts the living accommodation on the first floor with a large semi covered terrace to take full advantage of the spectacular open views. The simple yet modern design picks up on the orientation of the original stone dwelling which works well in terms of passive solar design. A contemporary palette of materials: stone, zinc and timber has been used to enable the building to age gracefully into the site over time.
